We spent a couple days in New York City working with the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) to help educate players on strategy and execution of turning an idea into a successful business. We were contracted through BLVCKOPS for this event.
What is SpeedBuild?
SpeedBuild was designed by BVLCKOPS to help train professional athletes learn the process of building a profitable business, through a day long (or less), hands-on session. One of the main missions of BVLCKOPS is to help professional athletes be successful off the field, through training and executional help with starting and running businesses.
We spent the day with the players teaching them critical business lessons, and then put what they learned into practice through an expedited simulation of starting an actual business. The activities for the day included building a financial model and business plan, the design and branding behind the company, a go-to-market strategy, and building and pitching a sales presentation for investors. At the end of the day, the players pitched their ideas to celebrity judges to get feedback on their final product.
Stay tuned, as we plan on posting some better quality images and video on the event in the future! And on a fun note – it was Patrick’s first time in NYC, so we got to explore the city and do some touristy things after the event!
